Bio
Alaine “Skeena” Rodriguez was born in the small town of Kitimat on the Northwest coast of Canada. As a young child with a wild imagination, she always found ways to stay immersed in the Land of Make-Believe; listening for hours to books on tape, using an old boom box to record her own radio show, participating in community theater, and making comic books featuring the adventures of her favorite cartoon creation - a dog named Cookie.
Skeena moved to Denver in 2005 and continued to pursue storytelling, attending the Colorado Film School for two years and then CU Boulder, where she studied Broadcast Journalism.
During her college years, Skeena began building a name for herself as a DJ, and over the past decade has held long-term residencies around the city and played at events like SXSW, X Games and Life is Beautiful.
In 2018, she began writing How to Survive in The Multiverse with her creative partner, Oren Lomena, and the two officially formed Alius Hu in 2019. Over the past two years, Skeena’s artwork has grown to include audio production, visual art and poetry using the cut-up technique, all made with an underlying theme of existential exploration. An unstoppable creative force, Skeena is dedicated to a life of wonder, adventure, curiosity, risk-taking and rule-breaking, and hopes that her work encourages others to join her down the rabbit hole.
