Bio
The Robofish Team is a diverse group of artists, engineers, designers, and technologists led by collaborating artist, F. Ria Khan. Ria is a researcher in HCI, focusing on novel expressions in games, critical design, and embodied interaction. They most recently graduated from the University of Colorado at Boulder with an M.S. in Creative Technologies + Design. Their initial concept of the Robofish originated from a guilty bout of procrastination during finals week as well as unrest in their makerspace lab community when a live fish controversially took residence in the lab for a few days. After the fish was reclaimed, Ria decided that the lab needed a new, less-alive and divisive, and delightfully strange companion. Thus, after one coffee-buzzed afternoon and still not studying for finals, the first Robofish was born. However, it didn’t stop there. When the lab community caught wind of the call for artists sent out by MW Denver, Ria and many of the lab members saw it as an opportunity to expand the entertaining concept of the Robofish to a grander scale. And so, the Robofish team came together as some of the most talented and passionate people from their community to make waves with this new and unique art installation for Meow Wolf Denver. Ladies, men, and non-binary friends, the Robofish team welcomes you to the "Galactic Autoquarium."
